Government platform tracks housing recovery support in real time
The Government is launching a platform this Monday that provides a real-time status update on support for repairing owner-occupied primary residences damaged by severe weather. Leiria, Ourém and Marinha Grande are among the municipalities with the highest number of applications submitted and processed.
Live gov.pt dashboard and application deadline
The permanently updated "dashboard" is available on gov.pt. The deadline to submit applications for support aimed at rebuilding owner-occupied primary residences affected by the bad weather that hit Portugal in January and February ended on 7 April. In total, 35 908 cases were submitted.
CCDR payments, approvals and refusals
Based on the information available so far, the Centre Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR) has already paid the amount due for 2716 applications, 1058 are awaiting authorisation for payment, and 1771 were deemed refused. The Lisbon and Tagus Valley CCDR has settled the amounts for 2285 cases, while 1412 ended up being refused.
Leiria, Ourém and Marinha Grande among the most affected
Looking at the municipalities most impacted, Leiria tops the list with 10 808 applications approved and 2936 processed. Ourém follows, where 3758 submitted applications will be subject to intervention and 2435 cases are under way. Marinha Grande also sits near the top of the table: in this municipality, 3365 applications have been recorded so far, with 161 processed.
Budget available and payment timeframes
It is worth noting that 250 million euros are available through the Centre and Lisbon and Tagus Valley CCDRs for these support measures. Financial support to cover repair damage will be granted within a maximum of three working days for operations up to five thousand euros, which do not require an inspection, and within up to 15 working days for all other cases.
Deaths linked to storms Kristin, Leonardo and Marta
At least 19 people have died in Portugal since 28 January following the passage of the storms Kristin, Leonardo and Marta, which also left several hundred people injured, displaced from their homes and forced to relocate. More than half of the deaths were recorded during recovery work.
