Xiaomi Robot Vacuum H50 Pro review: premium cleaning for under €500

Xiaomi’s Robot Vacuum H50 Pro is the brand’s latest robot vacuum cleaner. With this new model, the Chinese manufacturer is aiming to deliver a premium-feeling device for under €500. Here’s our test.

In the robot vacuum world, the sweet spot is the mid-range: models priced below €500 are where most buyers look. Xiaomi is back in that category with the Robot Vacuum H50 Pro, a machine that sets out to do a bit of everything without costing a fortune.

Its headline promises include solid suction, strong battery life and thorough mopping. Is it enough to satisfy anyone after an efficient, no-nonsense cleaner? We ran it in our home for a month to find out.

For this review, we’re testing the Pro model. Compared with the standard version, it delivers higher suction power and adds extendable mop pads-something the regular H50 does not include.

What it offers

With the Robot Vacuum H50 Pro, Xiaomi isn’t trying to reinvent the category. The unit comes with a white docking base measuring 320 x 411 x 495 mm. It’s compact enough to tuck into a corner, although the bright finish can stand out.

The dock integrates two water tanks: a 4-litre clean-water reservoir and a 3.2-litre dirty-water reservoir. Their layout is particularly well thought through, and the opening mechanism is genuinely convenient. Beneath that sits a 2.5-litre dust container, which Xiaomi claims is enough for 75 days of daily vacuuming.

The robot itself is a 35 cm diameter disc with a 9.3 cm height, making it well suited to slipping under furniture. Inside, there’s a 5200 mAh battery, which Xiaomi says can cover up to 240 m² on a single charge.

For navigation, there are no cameras. Instead, Xiaomi relies on an LDS system, which does the job provided you don’t leave small items lying around that could catch it out. It’s a familiar setup, but in principle it’s a reliable one.

Where Xiaomi wants to impress is the technical spec sheet. Most notably, the Robot Vacuum H50 Pro is rated at 15,000 Pa of suction power-right in line with expectations at this price.

Mopping is handled by two detachable pads that can rotate in both directions and use extendable arms to reach into corners. To top it off, the dock dries the pads with hot air after each wash (a feature missing from the standard H50).

As usual, the Xiaomi Home app lets you track the robot on a virtual map and check its status. The interface is straightforward and works well.

On paper, then, this is a conventional but carefully executed package. The real question is how it performs day to day.

Our experience with the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum H50 Pro

We lived with Xiaomi’s robot vacuum for one month. It was assigned an area of around 50 square metres, with a vacuuming run once per day and mopping twice a week. Overall, the results were convincing across many areas.

The first and most obvious point: cleaning performance is strong. When dealing with an accident (such as syrup spilled on tiled flooring), it managed to scrub the marks away by using its brush rotating at 180 revolutions per minute until the residue disappeared. Corners are also reached properly, which is a welcome plus.

Dust pick-up is similarly effective. Our test area was cleaned in roughly ten minutes, and it managed the job in a single pass thanks to its 280 ml onboard bin. We also pushed things further by sending it into a room full of dust, cat hair and feathers. In that extreme scenario, we eventually saw it jam, with the main brush unable to keep turning.

The reason is simple: the Xiaomi doesn’t include a hair-cutting system like the Tapo RV50. If it gets tangled, you’ll need to remove the debris manually. That said, this only cropped up in unusually messy conditions.

Another strong point is how adaptable it is across different floor types. It had no particular trouble climbing onto rugs or vacuuming carpet. In turbo mode, it even does a good job of pulling embedded dust out of the pile.

However, Xiaomi claims the H50 Pro can climb small steps of 2 cm, and that didn’t match our experience. When faced with that sort of obstacle, the robot ultimately turned back. If, like us, you live in an older, uneven home with small step-ups scattered around, this vacuum won’t be able to cross them. It’s disappointing, but not entirely surprising-very few models handle that situation well.

Lastly, its positioning and navigation are reassuring. The LDS sensor generally finds its way correctly, even when we try to confuse it. It’s not as fast or as precise as the dual-camera system on the Narwal Flow 2 (which costs far more), but in practice it’s more than adequate.

And what about the promise that the bag won’t need attention for 75 days? It appears credible: after 30 days, the reservoir was only half full.

So, should you buy it?

The Xiaomi Robot Vacuum H50 Pro isn’t a radical or particularly original robot vacuum. It doesn’t introduce a standout new feature that makes it an automatic purchase. What it aims to deliver instead is a well-judged experience that focuses on effectiveness-and on that front, it succeeds.

It cleans with care and accuracy, operates discreetly, and gets on with the task diligently, which is exactly what most people want. At this price, the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum H50 Pro looks like a new safe bet in the market: a well-designed product for anyone who needs a capable vacuum at an accessible cost.
