The EU is moving towards banning an entire family of substances found in cookware, jackets, cosmetics and even pizza boxes. Brands that communicate transparently and rework supply chains may stand out positively. At the same time, pressure is growing to scrutinise replacement substances carefully, so that a “PFAS 2.0” with similar issues does not enter the market.
For consumers, it will pay to stay alert: fewer promises of absolute stain‑proofing and 30‑day wear, and more emphasis on sturdy, straightforward materials. Shopping with that mindset does not only lower personal risk - it also helps ensure that “forever chemicals” eventually become history, rather than just another entry in a chemicals encyclopaedia.
